Chistina, do you remember any specific stories that your cousin used to tell...or would you have him e-mail me? I do ghost tours of the hotel and love to talk to former employees. Thanks!

Rosemont is continuing with the mine tours. You can find all the information by going to www.arizonabeautiful.com/Tucson-southern and clicking on the Rosemont ad, it will take you directly to where you need to go to set up a tour. It’s well worth your time, thanks for asking!

Are you still giving tours of the mine site? Where can I learn about them.

Live here in Tucson and feel mine will probably add to economy of S.Arizona. Trying to learn where roadblocks to approval exist. Any recent summary of next steps to get mine approval? RS Hait

How sad that you believe the law will negatively affect you. In reality, your being stopped for any reason would not mean that your wife would go to jail. If she has any documentation that she is an American Citizen or is here on a current visa then there is nothing, repeat nothing, to be worried about. Arizona is just trying to control the flow of illigals into the state, not to stop those that are legally here.
We truly hope you will reconsider your choice to avoid Arizona. Arizona welcomes visitors from all over the world on a daily basis and are thrilled to have them visit. Those from the United States are treasured visitors too.

My wife and I have typically visited Arizona every year; usually, to Sedona. Our concern now is that my wife is of Russian origin and has a pleasant but distinct accent. Were we stopped for (say) a traffic ticket and the officer heard her obviously non-American accent, there appears to be a distinct possibility that he could remand her to custody and require that she prove her U.S. citizenship. This is a process that could take an indeterminate amount of time. Time that she would presumably have to spend in jail. We do not want to take that chance and until Arizona rejoins the Union, we regret that we will have to make other vacation arrangements.

Sigh . . .

We went by in the winter on our way to the Grand Canyon. We stopped and had a great breakfast in the diner in front of a roaring fire. It was all decorated for Christmas and was pretty because of it. We didn't pay to go in the back as it seemed a little to much for what we figured it was. I think if the entrance fee to get into see the back were a little more reasonable they might see a lot more business. Definitely a cute "Big Ball of Yarn" moment that is worth at least stopping for a 5 cent cup of coffee to see!

Amtrak! I love travelling by train. Not sure where the nearest Amtrak station would be in Delaware, but you could definately make the connection. IN Arizona, the train stops in Williams, I believe, very close to Flagstaff, very close to the Grand Canyon. Amtrak offers tours as well, but they can definately help get you there!

It must have been several years since you've been there if the pent house was still unused. My cousin used to work nights there and we would go visit him. It really is creepy. They have renovated that room upstairs. My cousin couldn't handle working there anymore and had to quit.

So,

I check in at the Hotel San Carlos (7th floor) on a business trip to attend a conference. I realized right away that the place was historic, but had no idea that it was known for being haunted! My first night was horrible! I tossed and turned all night. The pipes in the building rattled as well. While in the midst of sleep, I opened my eyes to see what looked like a young, slender woman, wearing a shawl, pearing out the window, slowly pacing back and forth. I thought it to be just a dream until the next day, a Phoenix local asked me if I had seen any ghost in the hotel. I couldn't believe my ears! The hotel already gave me the creeps, but to hear someone mention out of the blue that it was haunted really freaked me out. I swear, this is the first time I've ever written a comment on a website. I am telling you the absolute truth. Lastly, I give God all glory for protecting me and giving me a peaceful rest the next night.

The castle is not open to the public at the present time. It is scheduled to open in the late fall of 2010. They are scheduled to begin November and run until April. You can visit the Cactus Garden now on a tour and see the castle up close but you won’t be able to go inside.

The cost of the Cactus Garden tour is $15.00 per person ages 8 to adult. You can register for the cactus Garden tour on line at phoenix.gov/parks and click on Classes and Programs on the left side of the page.

FYI, the highway where he crashed, known as the Pinal Pioneer Parkway, is one of the most cactus-ey areas on earth... including stands of 30-feet-high chain fruit cholla! It's a very unusual scenic detour offf the interstate.
To the north, on the Pima Indian reservation, is the town of Sacaton, home of Ira Hayes, made famous in song by Johnny Cash, and Matthew B. Juan, first Arizonan killed in WWI. There's a nice park there.

I always see ghosts at least once a week, and sometimes 4 times a week. I bet that I would be very entertained at Birdcage. Alcatraz Island was interesting to see, but I saw no ghosts there. thanks from tony

I was in Pinnacles CA at the end of Nov 2009, and I was amazed to see many beautiful birds and deer. I saw 3 or 4 deer everyday and came within 20 feet of hitting one by accident with my car when leaving. West Pinnacles is really amazing to see. thanks from tony

I did this trip, 7 days, and it was a memorable experience, floating along the 250 mile length of the Colorado river. The quality of the food was what surprised me. The guides prepared a wide range of entrees, all of which were very good.

This isn't a vacation but, rather, a life experience like no other, in touch with the geological past, nature, astronomy (satellites cross the night sky), and your thoughts free from everyday cares and concerns.

I recommend it as an experience, including the duke.

Just got back from Tucson this afternoon (from a family reunion). My wife, daughter, and I visted the park on Labor Day. We were in awe! My daughter had never seen the mountains before and the 8 mile loop trail was gorgeous! We took lots of pictures, but my wife said it best that "pictures and words can't describe it". You have to be there to see it!

A day in Tombstone is just a neat time, take a ride on one of the stages, wagons or trolly so that you get the "guided" tour of the community. Some of the houses are on the National Historic Registery. Just a nice way to spend a day.

Harvey didn't build the small house. Harvey's son Marion built the small house for his wife Lovetta where they raised their 7 children. A very wonderful cozy house I migh add. (I am one of the grand children.) Please take care of this wonderful place.
