The castle is not open to the public at the present time. It is scheduled to open in the late fall of 2010. They are scheduled to begin November and run until April. You can visit the Cactus Garden now on a tour and see the castle up close but you won’t be able to go inside.

The cost of the Cactus Garden tour is $15.00 per person ages 8 to adult. You can register for the cactus Garden tour on line at phoenix.gov/parks and click on Classes and Programs on the left side of the page.

FYI, the highway where he crashed, known as the Pinal Pioneer Parkway, is one of the most cactus-ey areas on earth... including stands of 30-feet-high chain fruit cholla! It's a very unusual scenic detour offf the interstate.
To the north, on the Pima Indian reservation, is the town of Sacaton, home of Ira Hayes, made famous in song by Johnny Cash, and Matthew B. Juan, first Arizonan killed in WWI. There's a nice park there.

I always see ghosts at least once a week, and sometimes 4 times a week. I bet that I would be very entertained at Birdcage. Alcatraz Island was interesting to see, but I saw no ghosts there. thanks from tony

I was in Pinnacles CA at the end of Nov 2009, and I was amazed to see many beautiful birds and deer. I saw 3 or 4 deer everyday and came within 20 feet of hitting one by accident with my car when leaving. West Pinnacles is really amazing to see. thanks from tony

I did this trip, 7 days, and it was a memorable experience, floating along the 250 mile length of the Colorado river. The quality of the food was what surprised me. The guides prepared a wide range of entrees, all of which were very good.

This isn't a vacation but, rather, a life experience like no other, in touch with the geological past, nature, astronomy (satellites cross the night sky), and your thoughts free from everyday cares and concerns.

I recommend it as an experience, including the duke.

Just got back from Tucson this afternoon (from a family reunion). My wife, daughter, and I visted the park on Labor Day. We were in awe! My daughter had never seen the mountains before and the 8 mile loop trail was gorgeous! We took lots of pictures, but my wife said it best that "pictures and words can't describe it". You have to be there to see it!

A day in Tombstone is just a neat time, take a ride on one of the stages, wagons or trolly so that you get the "guided" tour of the community. Some of the houses are on the National Historic Registery. Just a nice way to spend a day.

I visited the Hotel San Carlos last night and nothing paranormal was experienced. The hotel was old and yes it does creak and make old hotel noises. The ai conditioning was on and of course it is cold where the vents are which explains those weird chills. There are flourescent lights on that cause smoky haze. Nothing unusal for an old hotel.

I just stayed last weekend at the hotel san carlos for the one stop music conference. While at the hotel i heard the people talking and laughing all night and morning for the first 2 nights. I then talked to the front desk lady and she said she was sorry about that so she looked up our room and said that no one has been booked in any room near us all week... that the room was vacant. i told her that there was a 2 woman talking and a man in the room next to us that me and my friend where talking to them through the walls because they tried to open the connecting doors of the rooms and the people were gigling and laughing all night and morning. She then sent us up starirs with security and there was no one there just a strong smell of woman's perfume followed bye a fowl sewer like smell. Then she started talking to us about the history of the hotel and the lady who jumped off the roof and the kids in the sewer. We had no idea of any of this at the time our friend who was traveling with us booked the hotel just because it said we would get a free breakfast (which they don't have lol) after my experiences i would have to say that there is something defiantly going on there. I personally never believed in anything paranormal like i said the people were not faint whispers or anything they were like normal voices. The day we got back my friend said he could of swore he saw a little kid walk out of the bathroom and didn't want to freak us all out. Like I said i believe 100% that there is crazy things going on in Arizona !! I"m glad to be back in the bay area were ghost are the least of my problems-

I spotted this place on our way to the Grand Canyon on Friday and made my husband promise to take our family on the way back to town on Sunday.
We were so excited! I felt like I'd made my own little discovery since I'd never heard of it. The gift shop we walked into was a little dodgy and definitely smelled of smoke. (No fun for a family of asthmatics.) But the park itself was a fun travel back in time. The attractions are definitely worn down and some pieces are broken, but it's great for those of us who appreciate true Americana without the glitz and polish.

Word of advice though: Do not wear flip flops. There are stickers and burrs everywhere that go straight through flip flops. I eventually had to send my husband back to the car to get my sneakers and I ended up with bloody feet and a ruined pair of shoes. Start with sneakers and you'll be fine.

i stayed here w/ a theater troupe some years ago. the bellman offerred to take myself and 2 others on a 3am tour. i STILL get the chills thinking of it! he took us to the basement-site of the well and explained about it being a native site even before the school was built. we then went to a certain floor (4th/ 5th cant remember.) the whole floor was closed off to the public and there was one entire room of the hotels old mirrors. SOOO freaky in that room-i was not okay! haha. we finished with the roof. there is still a weird seperate suite on the roof but it looked long unused. all in all quite chilling. i believe 100% that hotel is haunted!!!

I visited your Zoo back in Oct. and fell in Love with your oldest male Lion. I forgot his name but he was the most beautiful animal I have ever seen.I stayed and watched him for the longest time. One of the caretakers told me that he lost his mate and was very sad. Also that he was very old. I wanted to know if he was still with you.
You all do an amazing job. I wish I had alot of money to donate to your zoo.

Thank you for your time.
