Out of Africa Wildlife Park - Camp Verde, Arizona

Out of Africa.jpegOut of Africa Park - Camp Verde, Arizona

In Arizona you really don’t think about seeing animals from all over the world but at the Out of Africa Wildlife Park you can see over 400 animals that will take you on a tour of the world.  There are lions, tigers, giraffe, rhinocerous, black bear, camel and Ostrich for you to see.  There are also cobras, zebra, tortoise, wildebeest, jaguar, leopards, wolves, hyenas and cobras along with even more to thrill you.

They park offers tours such as the Serengeti Safari tour which is a 45 minute African photo safari with expert park guides narrating the tour.  You will ride in a safari vehicle and expect an encounter with a giraffe, zebra, ostrich and more.  You will have the opportunity to feed the animals (which you DON"T do on a safari in Africa!) and even get a giraffe kiss from their long and somewhat slimly tongue.  The tours run all day Wednesday through Sunday.

You can see the preserve while riding on the tram or trolley in the Wildlife Preserve Tour.  You can see the lions, tigers, wolves, hyena and other predators that roam in large, natural habitats.  If you want you can walk among the Preserve’s predator habitates.  They are in fenced areas so you are safe. You may see caretakers inside interacting with the animals and answering your questions.  The narrated tram and trolley tours run throughout the day, Wednesday through Sunday.

Perhaps you are more interested in seeing the Bengal and Siberian tigers and other big cats as they interact in a predator/prey relations hip while romping and splashing in a 35 ft x 50 ft pool.  They play with their caretakers and vrious toys.  There is live narraton to explain the animals instincts, intellect and feelings as they interact with others.  The show time is 1:15 to 1:45 pm Wednesday through Sunday.  Please arrive at the Park 30 minutes before any show to make it to the venue on time.

Are you "into" snakes?  If so you will have the opportunity to wrap-up with the world’s largest species of snakes from Anacondas and Pythons to Boas.  With the help of a Park Caretaker you will be allowed to touch, pet and even hold some of these reptiles.  Show time 11:30 to 12 noon Wednesday through Sunday.

The Predator Feed is something you may enjoy.  The caretakers throw 800 lbs of raw food to the eagerly waiting carnivores which allow you to see how these big cats eat.  The feed is on Sundays, Wednesdays, Fridays at 3 to 3:45 pm.

The Wonders of Wildlife show allows you to see the caretakers interact with unique and interesting animals from all around the world.  You will learn about aniimals’ likes and dislikes, behaviors, instincts, health and habits both in captivity and in the wild.  The show is in the Tiger Splash Arena.

There is an opportunity for you to take the behind the scenes tour that lasts 3 hours where you will be given an in-depth tour led by the founders of the Park or lead caretakers.  You will be able to feed a white tiger.  This tour includes lunch and all park activities and tours that day.  Note: no children under three unless booking a tour exclusively with your group and an additional charge applies for exclusive tours.  Tiem: 10 - 1 pm Wed. through Sunday.  Please check in at 9:45 am in the gift shop if you are taking this tour.  Revervations are required and space is limited so call 928-567-2847 or 928-567-2842.  Adult cost $149 and children are $125.

It is great to know that a piece of Africa is being displayed in Arizona. This is wonderful as it helps the world know about the beauty of this continent
