Another must see tourist attraction is the Mystery Castle, which is located in the foothills of South Mountain Park. If you’re interested in eclectic architecture, then this castle is just right for you.

It is an 8,000 square foot three-story castle, built primarily from salvaged materials such as adobe, rocks, petroglyphs and even car parts. It is constructed on an abandoned gold mine with 18 rooms and 13 fireplaces.

The architecture of the castle is the eccentric Boyce Luther Gulley. The castle is dedicated to his daughter, Mary Lou Gulley. Mary Lou is currently living in the castle and personally leads the tour around it. It is open to vacationers from October to mid-June.
