Pueblo Grande Museum – Phoenix, Arizona
This museum is an archaeological site museum and repository focused on the saving of the cultural, architectural history for the benefit of theose wishing to learn about the Southwest and the diversity of the area. Pueblo Grande Museum sits on the site of a 1,500 year old Hokokam village. At the musuem you will learn bout these progressive farmers and builders and see a ceremonial mound, an excavated ballfield and reproductions of the homes the Hohokam Indians lived in.
The displays at the museum are centered around the history and lives of the Hokokam people, their lives and the art they brought forward. The agricultural skills of the people included growing corn, beans and cotton. They built pueblo houses, created beautiful pottery and survived the harshness of the area.
The museum is located at 4619 E. Washington Street, Phoenix AZ 85034
The Museum is located on the southeast corner of 44th Street and Washington. Tehy are north of Sky Harbor airport and just west of the SR 143 (Hohokam Expressway).
