Tamal & Heritage Festival – Tucson, Arizona
This festival brings together over 70 not for profit organizations selling tamales to raise money for their causes. A tamale contest is also scheduled with participants being judged in three categories: traditional, green corn and gourmet tamales. The first place winner will receive $500, $300 will go to the second place winner and $200 to third place.
Local casinos help to put on the Tamal & Heritage Festival. The festival is focused on showing the visitors the local tradition with live entertainment, great food and the opportunity to learn about Tucson’s community- based organizaitons and their causes.
