The U of A is the leading public research university in the American Southwest.  It is a state land-grant university.  The University has 37,217 students studying 334 different fields at the bachelor’s, masters, doctoral, and first professional level.

There are 18 colleges and 12 schools located o a 378 acre campus.  The U of A is a member of the Association of American Universities, NCAA Division 1, PAC 10 Conference.

The college was begun in 1891 with 32 students and six teachers.  The first two colleges, Agriculture and Mines, held classes in the universities only building – Old Main – which is still in use today.

The campus is a hub of activity, not only for the students but for the residents of Tucson.  The sports teams are outstanding.  The theatre department is top level.  Broadway plays are presented on campus by traveling theatre groups.  Night time and day time studies are available as well as specialty classes.  Whatever your wants in education are, the U of A can provide them for you.

The University has more than a dozen graduate programs ranked in the top 10 nationally.
